How to Keep Praying When You Need a Miracle

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries9 Minutes

For five years, Veronica watched someone she loved experience one heartbreak after another.

Her daughter, Tashida, and her husband desperately wanted a child. But severe endometriosis made conception difficult, and doctors had given them little hope.

There had been three surgeries. Two miscarriages. Repeated attempts at in vitro fertilization.

Through it all, a mother kept praying.

Veronica couldn’t change her daughter’s circumstances. She couldn’t take away the disappointment. She couldn’t guarantee what the next doctor’s appointment would bring.

But she could pray. And she could keep trusting God.

When the Answer Hasn’t Come Yet

One day, Veronica was watching Inspiration Campmeeting when she heard a message about God’s favor.

As she listened, something stirred in her heart.

“As I listened, I felt strongly led to sow a financial seed into God’s Kingdom through your ministry,” Veronica recalls. “I heard the Lord tell me this was my daughter’s year for favor. So I gave my seed a specific assignment for her to become pregnant.”

Veronica wasn’t simply hoping for better circumstances. She believed God was asking her to respond in faith. So she did. She called Inspiration Ministries to sow her financial seed and connected with a prayer minister in our International Prayer Center.

Then she shared the burden she had been carrying. Her daughter had endured severe endometriosis, three surgeries, two miscarriages, and was preparing for her fifth attempt at IVF.

Together, Veronica and the prayer minister prayed.

Someone Stood with Her in Prayer

There is something powerful about knowing you don’t have to carry a burden alone. Scripture tells us:

“The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16 ESV).

Veronica had already been praying for her daughter. But on that day, someone joined her. The prayer minister listened to her heart and agreed with her in prayer. Veronica remembers:

“As the prayer minister fervently prayed for my daughter, God told me again that He was going to meet her needs. I knew I must stand in faith on His Word and watch my uncommon seed yield God’s uncommon harvest. I obeyed, trusting Him for a positive outcome.”

That last sentence says so much: “I obeyed, trusting Him.”

That’s the heart of biblical faith.

We don’t obey God because we have figured out exactly how He must respond. We obey because we trust Him. And when we sow a financial seed in faith, we don’t purchase an answer to prayer. Seedtime and harvest is not a way to manipulate God.

We listen. We trust. We obey. Then we leave the harvest in His hands.

Then Came the News

After five years of waiting, disappointment, procedures, and prayer, something changed. Veronica describes how quickly the news came: “The very next month, my daughter discovered she was pregnant!”

Imagine that moment. After everything this family had endured, there was finally a pregnancy. In time, Tashida gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces.

Her name? Miracle.

“Now she has given birth to a beautiful, healthy, 7-pound 10-ounce baby girl, appropriately named Miracle!”

For Veronica, this wasn’t merely an answered prayer. She saw it as a testimony to the faithfulness of God.

Keep Praying for the People You Love

Maybe the miracle you’re praying for today isn’t a baby. Perhaps you’re praying for a son or daughter who has walked away from God, or someone you love needs healing. Perhaps your marriage needs restoration or you’re facing a financial situation that seems impossible.

Or maybe you’ve been praying the same prayer for so long that you’ve begun to wonder whether anything will ever change.

Veronica’s story doesn’t promise that God answers every prayer according to our timetable or in exactly the way we ask, but it does remind us of something important:

Don’t stop praying just because you haven’t seen the answer yet.

Jesus taught His disciples that they “ought always to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1 ESV).

There are times when faith means continuing to pray while circumstances remain unchanged. There are times when faith means asking someone else to stand with you.

There are also times when God may ask you to take a step of obedience: to forgive, to serve, to give, to sow a financial seed into His Kingdom, or simply to keep believing when giving up would be easier.

Whatever He asks, trust Him enough to obey.

A Prayer That Continues

One of the most beautiful parts of Veronica’s testimony is what happened after Miracle was born.

She didn’t stop praying.

Veronica expressed her gratitude to God and to the prayer ministers who had stood with her. Then she made another request: “Please thank your faithful prayer ministers for agreeing with me in prayer, and ask them to continue praying that Miracle will grow into a wonderful testimony of God’s grace.”

What a beautiful prayer for the next generation.

The grandmother who once prayed that her daughter would have a child was now praying over the life and future of that child.

Her answered prayer became another reason to pray.

Maybe that’s an invitation for you today. Whatever burden you’re carrying, bring it to God again. Ask someone to stand with you. Listen for what the Holy Spirit may be asking you to do.

Then trust Him with the outcome.

You may not know when the answer will come or what it will look like.

But you know the One you’re praying to.

Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep obeying.

Never underestimate what God can do!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I keep praying when I haven’t received an answer?

Jesus encouraged His followers to pray and not lose heart. Persistent prayer isn’t about forcing God to act; it’s continuing to bring your need to Him because you trust His character even when you don’t yet understand His answer.

Can I ask other Christians to pray for my miracle?

Scripture repeatedly shows believers praying for one another. Veronica had been praying for her daughter, but she also invited an Inspiration Ministries prayer minister to stand with her in prayer.

Does sowing a financial seed guarantee a miracle?

A financial offering does not purchase healing, pregnancy, or any other answer from God. Veronica believed God specifically led her to give to His Kingdom work, so she responded in faith. Biblical seedtime and harvest teaches us to trust and obey God while leaving the nature and timing of the harvest in His hands.

What should I do while waiting for an answer to prayer?

Continue seeking God, remain grounded in Scripture, invite trusted believers to pray with you, obey what God shows you, and resist allowing disappointment to convince you that prayer is pointless.

Does God always answer prayer the way we ask?

God hears His children, but His answers do not always come in the timing or form we expect. Christian faith rests not in our ability to control the outcome, but in God’s wisdom, goodness, and sovereignty.
