A Daring Journey of Faith

Yolanda’s story is a powerful testament to what can happen when you surrender your plans and embrace a daring journey of faith. Trading her successful career and comfortable lifestyle for God’s call to serve others, Yolanda stepped into a life of uncertainty, miracles, and divine provision. In this inspiring article, discover how her obedience and prayer partnership led to breakthrough, purpose, and a life transformed.

In her hometown of Hiram, Georgia, Yolanda was a highly successful writer who made a nearly six-figure income in clinical research. But underneath her outward success, she admits there were many voids in her life.

“I hid it well,” she now says, “but as a single mom searching for ways to escape loneliness and depression, I was on the path of destruction. Worst of all, I didn’t know who to talk to about my struggles.”

From Hidden Struggles to God’s Call

Right when things were looking the darkest, the Lord revealed Himself to Yolanda in an amazing way. One day while at work, she heard Him audibly calling her name. Astonished, she sought counsel from a Christian friend who reminded her of Samuel’s story in 1 Samuel 3:8-9:

The Lord called Samuel again the third time. So he arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you did call me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord had called the boy. Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.’”

“Once I realized it truly was God calling to me, I was able to answer Him,” Yolanda shares. “And once I answered Him, my life dramatically changed.”

However, Yolanda’s newfound mission involved some challenging steps of faith. She felt called to quit her job, leave her life of luxury, and travel throughout the United States to touch needy lives with the love of Jesus.

“God called me to give away most of my possessions, pack up my truck, and hit the road with my daughter Matty,” she recalls. “We were leaving our comfortable life in order to provide for the needs of others.”

Another Step of Faith

After following God’s leading to Florida, Yolanda and her daughter settled into a temporary house and turned on their TV one afternoon. They happened to see a broadcast of Inspiration Ministries’ Campmeeting.

Yolanda was out of work and knew she would soon be in dire financial straits unless the Lord intervened. But faith rose in her heart at the sound of the preacher’s words. She called Inspiration Ministries to sow a seed to win souls and disciple believers around the world.

Needing a Prayer Partner

Around this same time, Yolanda’s heart cry was for God to provide her with someone to stand by her through prayer and spiritual guidance. She discovered the International Prayer Center at Inspiration Ministries, and she could hardly believe the difference their prayers were making in her life!

“Every time I would feel frustrated about following God on this journey of faith, an Inspiration prayer minister would call and ask if they could pray for me,” she says. “Often when I prayed with your prayer ministers about something, our prayers were answered within a matter of days! It was absolutely amazing.”

In God’s perfect timing, He was using the prayer ministers to reassure Yolanda that He was still leading her and her daughter. “Each phone call was like hearing from a friend,” she explains. “I could tell the prayer ministers cared deeply about our well-being.”

Breakthroughs Galore

Now, Yolanda is excited to share about all the ways God has blessed her and Matty. “In just 60 days, we went from being homeless to being in a home, having a job, and paying off our debt!” she exclaims. “God continues to use Inspiration Ministries to remind me of His faithful provision during our times of desperate need.”

Today, Yolanda and her daughter are still traveling across the nation and blessing others all along the way. She’s writing once again, and some of her books share about the personal lessons she’s learned while living a life of faith. She also shares her stories of God’s faithfulness with those she and her daughter meet while traveling.

Strengthened by the support of the International Prayer Center just a phone call away, Yolanda is glad she isn’t all alone as she seeks God’s leading. Through prayer and monthly financially giving, she and her daughter have seen the Lord take impossible situations and give them remarkable breakthroughs.

“We would never go back to the life we had before, because it wasn’t nearly as exciting as the life we have now,” she says. For four years, we’ve been traveling nationwide—wherever God leads us—and it has been an amazing journey.
