God Changed My Life!

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries9 Minutes

Stephanie’s story is one of heartbreak, surrender, and miraculous restoration. In her darkest season, she cried out, took bold steps of faith, and experienced firsthand how God changed her life. This article explores how God met her in her brokenness and used her obedience to bring healing, provision, and even salvation to those around her.

Stephanie’s parents didn’t raise her in church, but they did instill sound values that still carry her through life: “Do good. Go to school. Make money.”

Those principles served her well—for a while. But when life began to unravel, Stephanie discovered that doing good wasn’t enough.

Searching for God in a Season of Brokenness

Marriage challenges brought her to her knees. Desperate to know whether God was real, she began praying and fasting. She also pulled out the Bible resources she had received during a church visit.

God met her, and His Word became her daily source of strength. She devoured Scripture day and night. She became an associate pastor and sensed the Holy Spirit nudging her to leave her job. When God confirmed His direction, she stepped out in faith and resigned.

Within a year, she had the privilege of leading someone to the Lord. She knew this one person had been on God’s mind when He called her to leave her job.

Learning to Trust God Through Uncertainty

While God was working through her ministry, life at home continued to deteriorate. Her husband’s resentment grew, and he began mentally abusing her and living wildly.

One sleepless night, she listened to an Inspiration Ministries broadcast. During the program, she was moved to sow a $1,000 seed. She made the pledge but didn’t have the money. Her spirit was as depleted as her finances.

Two years passed. One morning, she entered the kitchen and found the TV tuned to an Inspiration Ministries program teaching about seed sowing. It caught Stephanie’s attention and inspired her to act on that earlier commitment—to act on her faith.

Experiencing God’s Provision After Divorce

God honored her step of faith, and Stephanie soon landed the job of her dreams. Sadly, though, her marriage collapsed, leaving her with nowhere to go. Forced to move in with her unbelieving father, Stephanie developed a peace in her heart that she had never known before. She found herself experiencing a joy that her father couldn’t understand.

When Stephanie’s husband sued for divorce, demanding her 401(k), pension, substantial alimony, and payment of his legal fees, her father became upset and wanted her to fight back.

But Stephanie knew that she had to listen to the Holy Spirit and do what He was leading her to do. After praying about it, she decided to surrender everything to God’s hands and not contest her husband’s petitions.

The settlement upset her father, but Stephanie had a real peace about her decision. “It was such a deep valley. I cried out to God. I couldn’t sleep and felt sick,” she said. Even so, she remained certain God had heard her prayers and would come through.

Weeks later, her lawyer called with great news! The court threw out the unfair settlement and restored Stephanie’s assets to her! Best of all, the miraculous resolution opened her dad’s eyes to God! In awe, he exclaimed, “I don’t usually do God, but today I know God works in mysterious ways!”

Stephanie credits Inspiration Ministries with helping her grasp principles of giving that have increased her faith—and even brought others to the Lord. “I don’t serve the God of money; I serve the Creator, and I am His vessel. I trust Him with the seeds that He gives me to sow.”

Just as God met Stephanie in her deepest valley, He is near to you in whatever you are facing. You can cry out to Him, trust His Word, and place your life in the hands of Jesus Christ. He is faithful to save, sustain, and lead those who seek Him.

Whatever you’re facing, we’d be honored to pray with you. Share your prayer request—we’re here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do when I feel far from God?

Begin by turning toward Him, even if you do not feel His presence. Pray honestly, open His Word, and ask Him to search your heart. Feelings can change, but God’s character and promises do not. Scripture assures us that “the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18 ESV).

How can I know whether God is leading me to make a difficult decision?

God’s leading will never contradict His written Word. Test what you sense through Scripture, prayer, wise counsel, and patience. Do not rely on emotion or urgency alone. Ask God for wisdom, and be willing to wait for clarity rather than forcing an answer (James 1:5).

Does trusting God mean I should never defend myself or seek help?

No. Trusting God does not require you to ignore danger, remain in abuse, or refuse wise legal, pastoral, or practical help. Scripture affirms both dependence on God and the value of godly counsel. Stephanie’s decision was personal to her circumstances and should not be treated as a command for everyone facing injustice.

Can God provide for me when my future feels uncertain?

Yes. God knows what you need and is faithful to care for His children. His provision may come through employment, other people, wisdom, endurance, or an unexpected open door. We can bring our needs to Him while continuing to act responsibly and trust His timing (Matthew 6:31–33; Philippians 4:19).

What does the Bible teach about giving in faith?

Biblical giving is an act of worship, gratitude, and obedience—not a way to purchase God’s favor or guarantee a financial return. God calls believers to give willingly, generously, and without compulsion. “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7 ESV). We give because He has first given so graciously to us.

Can God use my testimony to help someone else believe?

Yes. When you tell others truthfully what God has done, your story can point them toward Jesus. A testimony does not replace the Gospel, but it can show the reality of God’s grace and open the door to share that salvation is found in Christ alone (Revelation 12:11; Romans 1:16).

What is the first step if I want to begin a relationship with God?

A relationship with God begins when you repent of your sin and place your faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that Jesus died for our sins, rose again, and offers forgiveness and eternal life to everyone who believes in Him. You can come to Him honestly, confess your need for His mercy, and trust Him as your Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9–10; Ephesians 2:8–9).
