Gracie B and the Honeycombs Episode 8 Premiere: ‘Mercy’

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries3 Minutes

Have you ever accidentally hurt someone or broke something that belonged to someone else? Did you instantly regret your actions or words? Were you afraid that the person you hurt would retaliate and try to get back at you for the pain you caused? Did you run away instead of facing the person or people you hurt? When you apologized, did they forgive you? Did they extend mercy to you? Believe it or not, mercy is a Christian virtue, and we Christians are called to be merciful to those around us. While mercy isn’t technically listed as one of the nine fruits of the spirit in the Bible, it is closely associated with kindness.

In Episode 8 of “Gracie B and the Honeycombs,” Chick (yes, the roach one of the band’s foes) and Grit both show Winston mercy after Gracie B’s young brother broke Chick and Grit’s mug and guitar strings, respectively, with his slingshot. They both want to confront the young bee to give him a piece of their mind; however, Winston runs off. When he returns home, Grammy learns of Winston’s actions and sends him to his room. A short time later, when Chick shows up at Winston’s home, he’s about to tell him off before Wilbur pokes him and reminds him to have mercy on the boy. Chick acquiesces and returns Winston’s slingshot, but not before giving him a warning. Winston was thankful that both Chick and Grit forgave him and showed him mercy.

While there are plenty of stories of people showing mercy throughout the Bible, Gracie B chooses to highlight Luke 6:35-37:

But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful

“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven” (NKJV).

We need to show mercy, especially to those who may have hurt us because remember Father God showed us mercy. He gave us Jesus so He could take everything we would ever do wrong and we wouldn’t have to pay for it. He showed us mercy. We should do the same.

Episode 8 also includes the energy-packed song, “Jump Zack Jump.” Learn more about “Gracie B and the Honeycombs” here.
