Unfulfilled Dreams

These can be great moments. The instant when an idea forms in our minds and we catch a vision for something that truly inspires us. When we feel galvanized by a dream that gives us focus and energy. When we feel a calling from God to do something special for His Kingdom.

Yet, for various reasons, these dreams may not be fulfilled. Perhaps they have been abandoned. Perhaps delayed. Unfulfilled dreams can be frustrating. They haunt us. Plague us. Perplex us. They constantly can linger in our thoughts.

Many people are like those Israelites who dreamed of a day when the Lord would bring back “the captive ones of Zion.” They longed for this dream to be fulfilled, but it seemed impossible. They might hope for better days, and for God’s intervention, but it seemed like just a dream.

Then, God performed a miracle. He “brought back the captive ones of Zion.” They no longer were just dreaming but their mouths were “filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting.”

People all around could see that God had “done great things for them.” He showed that He still could intervene in their lives. He could change their circumstances, and make what seemed impossible to come true. He could fulfill their dreams.

In your life, remember that He is the same God today. He still performs miracles and answers the prayers of those who reach out in faith.

The Bible reminds us that God does not want you to give up or be filled with despair. Has He given you a vision? A dream? An idea? Stay faithful, and don’t give up. Remember, He can do all things!
