Unexpected Blessings

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries3 Minutes

It all started when Matthew was eight years old. At a church service one evening, he made his first big financial decision: to give 10% of his allowance to the Lord. That seemingly small choice began his journey of financial faithfulness—recognizing God as the true owner of everything he has.

Much has changed since that evening. Matthew became a dentist and opened a practice in his home state of Georgia. He married his wife Barbara, and they have been blessed with four children and six grandchildren. Over the years, their finances have grown as they’ve devoted their time, money, and skills to serving others.

An Unexpected Friendship

In the summer of 2009, Matthew connected with Inspiration Ministries through a Campmeeting broadcast. In response to the message preached, he sowed his first seed into the ministry. While many people need a financial breakthrough, healing, or family reconciliation, Matthew needed none of those things at the time. He just sensed God wanted him to sow a seed to win souls and disciple believers through Inspiration Ministries’ outreaches.

Matthew’s harvest came as an unexpected blessing: friends to pray with. Those friends are the Partner Relations Team at Inspiration Ministries led by Rob Dickson, Vice President of Partner Relations.

As Matthew became a devoted partner, Rob often asked him and Barbara what they needed most. Their answer was immediate: prayer. And that’s exactly what God provided through the Partner Relations Team.

Rob’s team prays weekly, including Matthew and Barbara’s requests. Matthew says, “We are so grateful for your weekly prayers and want you to know how impactful they have been, especially for God to bring the right people into our lives.”

The couple cites specific prayers that were answered. “We needed a new team member for our dental practice and thought we’d found the perfect person,” Matthew recalls. “We offered her the job, but she turned us down. Rob’s team continued praying, and her heart changed. She accepted, and we were overjoyed.”

The answered prayers continue. Matthew recently texted Rob with a wonderful praise report: “Thank you for your prayers and encouragement, Rob. Last month was our best month ever. God is so good!”

Blessing Others

Matthew and Barbara live a life of generosity, providing for many in need. Their dental practice offers free treatment days, and they lead a mentoring program for teens from broken homes, helping them stay off the streets and experience God’s love.

“Giving hope to those who are down and out is one of our great passions,” Matthew explains. “We’ve discovered that it’s not what we can do, but what He can do through us. We are nothing without Jesus!”
