Trusting God During Financial Hardship: Angela’s Testimony of Faith

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries6 Minutes

What does it mean to trust God during financial hardship? For Angela, it meant giving away the last money she had.

A Life in Need of Hope

“I had no job, no income, and no savings,” she explained. “Unless the Lord intervened, I had no other hope left.”

When Angela connected with Inspiration Ministries, she was carrying that weight. Then, during a broadcast, she felt God prompting her to do something that didn’t make sense on paper.

A Step of Faith

“Although $100 was all the money I had left in the world, I was compelled by the Lord to sow a financial seed into the Good Ground of Inspiration Ministries,” she remembered.

It was a step of faith rooted in a principle she felt God leading her to act on:

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:6–8).

Everything Has Changed

In the weeks and months that followed, Angela began to see God at work.

“First, I began a new job,” she said. “Then much-needed restoration began to take place within my family. Many of my unsaved family members have now given their hearts to Christ!”

“Thank you, Inspiration Ministries,” she wrote. “Because I obediently planted a seed into His Kingdom, God greatly blessed me!”

Looking back, Angela put it simply: “Everything in my life has changed, and God has given me favor I’ve never had before!”

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to trust God during financial hardship?

Trusting God during financial hardship does not mean pretending the pressure is not real. It means refusing to let fear have the final word.

It means praying, seeking God’s wisdom, working faithfully, and trusting Him as your provider. Jesus reminded His followers that the Father already knows what they need and calls them to seek first His kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:31–33).

What does it mean to sow a financial seed?

To sow a financial seed means giving to God’s work in faith and obedience. Scripture uses the picture of sowing and reaping to show that generosity matters and that God can use what we give to produce lasting fruit.

Biblical giving is not a way to manipulate God or purchase His blessing. It is an act of worship that trusts Him with both the gift and the harvest (2 Corinthians 9:6–8).

Does the Bible teach that giving leads to blessing?

Yes. Scripture clearly connects generosity with blessing. Proverbs 11:25 says, “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”

But God decides what that blessing looks like. It may come as financial provision, spiritual growth, an opportunity to help someone else, greater faith, or eternal reward. God’s blessing is never limited to money.

Can God ask someone to give when money is tight?

Yes. Scripture includes people who gave even when they had very little. The widow of Zarephath shared what she had with Elijah, and God sustained her household during the famine (1 Kings 17:8–16). Jesus also honored the poor widow who gave two small coins because she gave sacrificially and from the heart (Mark 12:41–44).

At the same time, giving should come from faith and obedience—not pressure, fear, or manipulation. Scripture says each person should give as he has decided in his heart (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Does trusting God mean ignoring financial wisdom?

No. Faith does not require carelessness.

The Bible teaches believers to work diligently, plan wisely, provide for their families, and seek godly counsel (Proverbs 21:5; 1 Timothy 5:8). Trusting God means bringing every financial decision under His authority and following His direction, even when obedience requires sacrifice.

Why are testimonies important?

Testimonies remind us that God is still at work in real lives. They can strengthen faith, encourage someone who feels alone, and point people back to Jesus.

A testimony does not replace Scripture, and one person’s experience does not become a promise for everyone. But when a testimony agrees with God’s Word, it becomes a powerful witness to His faithfulness.
