Doorway Out of Darkness

Several years ago, Joe found himself in a very dark place. In his words, he was a terrible husband, father, son, and brother. So terrible that his family turned him into the police for a crime he committed, and the judge sent him to jail.

It was there that the light of Jesus Christ burst out of a borrowed INSPIRATION magazine and pierced Joe’s heart. He knew he wanted more of God’s presence in his life and called to get his own copy. Today, his joy continues to grow, just like his gratitude for a renewed heart and mind.

“I have found God and His Kingdom in my life, and I am overcome with gratefulness. This has brought understanding, fulfillment, and purpose to my life. I can’t get enough of Him. Jesus has changed my life – me, a sinner! I broke every single one of God’s commands at least once. But all that is behind me now. Life with Jesus just keeps getting better and better.”

Instead of ignoring his past deeds, Joe grieves over the pain he caused before he knew Jesus and diligently seeks to know God more through prayer and Bible study. “I pray every day that God will give my family understanding and forgiveness for all the hurt I caused to them. I love Psalm 23 and am trying to learn how to meditate on the Word of God. Focusing on God as my Shepherd, my Father, helps me understand Him and His Kingdom better.”

Out of jail for two years now, Joe loves to share Jesus. Before COVID closures, he led a Bible study at the local senior center and looks forward to returning there soon. Both your prayers and your partnership helped open the door for Jesus and Joe to meet.
