A Family Restored: How One Step of Faith Reconnected a Family and Birthed a New Life

A Hidden Ache Only God Could Heal

The couple first met in the Philippines during David’s military service. Their love story grew quickly, even as life in the military meant constant movement, sacrifice, and distance. When Valerie left the Philippines to follow her husband, she never imagined how steep the emotional cost would be.

As the years passed, Valerie slowly became disconnected from her family back home. One missed phone call turned into months. Months became years. And before long, she realized she barely knew what was happening in the lives of the people she loved most.

She carried that ache quietly. She whispered prayers at night, asking God to restore what had been lost.

“Lord, I don’t want to lose my family. Bring us back together.”

She didn’t know how God would do it—but she believed He could.

A Step of Faith That Opened a Door

During a season of prayer, David and Valerie felt led to sow a financial seed into Inspiration Ministries. They didn’t fully understand why, but their hearts were stirred to act in faith—trusting God with their deepest need.

“God works in your life according to what is in your heart,” David later shared. “Sowing seeds works because it shows what you value in life.”

A Phone Call That Changed Everything

Valerie received an unexpected call from her family. Her brother, Diego, had been diagnosed with cancer. The news was devastating, but it did something miraculous: it brought her entire family back together.

Conversations that had been silent for years suddenly reopened. The family began meeting online regularly—checking on Diego, praying for him, reconnecting, and rebuilding the emotional and spiritual bridges that had once been broken.

Through the tears and uncertainty, Valerie could see God answering a prayer she had carried for so long.

A Spiritual Awakening in the Middle of Crisis

As Diego battled cancer, something beautiful began to unfold. He opened his Bible. He started attending church. He began hungering for God in a way he never had before.

Soon, Diego surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.

His family gathered again—this time to celebrate his baptism. The water became a symbol of everything God had been doing behind the scenes: healing relationships, renewing hope, and calling a family back to Himself.

But even then, God wasn’t finished.

One Restoration Sparked a Generational Miracle

Watching his father follow Jesus, Diego’s son, Bok-Bok, began searching for truth himself. He asked questions. He watched. He noticed the change in his father.

Not long after, he too accepted Jesus and received the gift of eternal life.

In their family’s healing and reconnection, they saw God’s heart at work.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3).

One step of faith.

One seed planted in obedience.

And God restored an entire family—bringing healing, hope, and salvation to the next generation.

Today, David and Valerie share their story everywhere they go. They know—deeply and personally—that no seed of faith is ever wasted and God never ignores a cry for restoration.
