Hi, this is Dr. Mike Smalley. I’m teaching today from my book, How to Prosper in Hard Times God’s Way. I want to welcome you to today’s edition of Strengthen Your Walk™. Our passion is to pour the word of God into you, to strengthen you so you grow in your faith. And one of the areas that we’re talking about today is prospering. How to prosper in Hard Times God’s Way. I want you to develop a prosperity vocabulary. All through the Scripture, poverty is condemned. Poverty, Leviticus 26, Deuteronomy 28, other Scriptures, all through the Bible you see that poverty was a result of wrong decisions. Poverty was a result oftentimes of God’s judgment on a nation. God never sent poverty to His people. He never called it a blessing. You look all through the Scripture at God’s divine provision. Think of the children of Israel. Forty years in the hot desert in the wilderness and not one pair of their shoes the Bible says ever wore out. God is a God of protection and provision and divine supply. And our Father’s not broke.

Now Jesus said in Mark 11:23, He talks about a mountain. It could be a mountain of finances, could be a mountain of debt, could be a mountain of discouragement. But Jesus said, “If any man”, any person, they don’t even have to be saved. He said, “This is a divine law. If any man, any woman says to a mountain, ‘Get out of my way, be removed and be cast into the sea’ and does not doubt in their heart, but believes the things they say will come to pass.” And Jesus Himself said, “that person will have whatever they say.”

And agree with God. Don’t agree with the preacher. Don’t agree with me. Agree with God. Read what God’s word says about divine supply, divine provision, divine abundance and start speaking that out. Eliminate- any time you accidentally even say something, you know, “Ah, we’ll never get ahead. Everything’s going up. Everything’s just always going to be a struggle.” Stop yourself immediately and say, “Father, I didn’t really mean that. I said it and I renounce it. What I really mean is my God shall supply all of my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

I wrote in this book How to Prosper God’s Way because God’s way is always the prosperous way. Somebody asked me one time, ”Do you just preach the health and wealth gospel?” I said, I had no idea there was any other kind. What was I supposed to go into all the world and preach the sickness and poverty gospel? The word gospel means good news. Being broke and being sick is not exciting. That’s not good news for anybody. Hey, guess what? You can be sick. Nobody throws a party for that. So by the way, you can be homeless and broke. That’s not exciting news either.

But the Bible says that He that knew no sin became sin, that in Him we might become the righteousness of God in Christ. The same New Testament Bible tells you that He that was rich became poor so that we in turn might become rich. God wants His people prosperous, sending missionaries around the world, supporting churches, supporting Christian television and being a blessing to their family, their church and the work of God.

No wonder Jesus said it’s more blessed to give than receive. God knew joy would be connected to our giving. For God so loved the world that He what? He gave. So, get out of the poverty mindset; get out of poverty talking. Eliminate victim talk no matter what your finances look like right now. Take it to a new level with your vocabulary first because your faith is always voice-activated. This is Dr. Mike Smalley. Thank you for joining me today for this edition of Strengthen Your Walk™.
