Armed for Battle

By God’s grace and the prayers and support of our faithful partners, Inspiration Ministries is touching countless lives—both in the United States and in foreign nations. But we can tell you that Satan clashes with us over every household we try to touch and over every man, woman, boy, or girl we reach with the Gospel.

You see, the battle in which we are engaged is not of this world. As Paul states:

The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4).

The only way for us to triumph in this conflict against the enemy is to put on the whole armor of God “so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11 NASB). Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, “but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” (v. 12 NASB).

Are you appropriately dressed for the battle? Have you put on the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness (v. 14)? Are your feet shod with the Gospel of peace (v. 15)? Are you protected by the shield of faith (v. 16)? Are you wearing the helmet of salvation and wielding the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (v. 17)?

To be spiritually armed for the battle is the only way to resist the evil one. In order to be victorious, we must “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might” (Ephesians 6:10).

We are in a war, and we can’t afford to surrender. When boxer James Corbett was the heavyweight champion of the world, he was asked, “What is the most important thing a man must do to become a champion?”

Corbett responded, “Be willing to fight one more round!”

He’s Defeated!

Satan is still stalking the earth, but you can rejoice in the fact that he is a defeated foe, waiting for his final punishment. As Paul writes: “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet” (Romans 16:20).

What a powerful truth! Satan’s weapons and accusations are demolished when Christ lives in you and you stand in His authority. You have His strength, His power, and His righteousness to use against the devil.

But you have a choice today. You can sit back and do nothing, letting the enemy devour your seed and destroy your harvest. Or you can use your weapons of spiritual warfare to fight him in Jesus’ mighty name.

We’re praying that you will walk in Jesus’ authority and enjoy all the benefits of a covenant relationship with your Heavenly Father. Instead of worrying about what the enemy is up to, remember the promise of James 4:7: If you submit yourself to God and stand your ground, the devil must flee. Don’t give up! Even when the battle feels overwhelming, the Lord IS your champion … and He’s fighting for your victory.
