From Hopeless Addiction to Hope in Christ

For years, Mike’s life looked nothing like the prayers he once whispered as a child. He grew up going to church, saying his bedside prayers faithfully, but as he got older, life’s pressures led him down a destructive path. Alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs slowly took control, leaving him empty and without direction.

He admits there was a time he couldn’t see any way out. He felt trapped—held captive by habits that promised comfort but only deepened his pain. Still, deep within, a small flicker of faith remained. He knew it would take a miracle to get his life back on track, and at age 40, that’s exactly what God provided.

After years of living for himself, Mike made one simple decision that would change everything. He accepted an invitation from a friend to attend church. “It was different than anything I had ever known. It touched my heart very much. First, I stopped drinking and began walking closer to God. Then, I quit cigarettes and finally drugs. My life became better as I learned to pray for others instead of focusing on my problems.”

That moment became the start of a powerful transformation. The addictions that once controlled him began to lose their hold. Hope returned. His heart softened. Prayer became his lifeline—his daily connection with a loving God who still heals, restores, and redeems.

Discovering the Power of Prayer

As Mike grew in his walk with God, prayer became more than words—it became a lifeline. Through it, he began to experience the reality of a God who still performs miracles.

“It was so exciting to be part of praying for someone who was very sick and seeing them healed. I know it wasn’t all my prayers, but it meant a lot to me to be part of the team—and then seeing someone miraculously pull through.”

Every answered prayer deepened Mike’s faith. As he saw God move in the lives of others, he realized that prayer is anything but passive—it’s a partnership with a miracle-working God. The same God who set him free was answering prayers through him—bringing hope and healing to others.
