Comedian Jeff Allen and Finding Hope After Alcoholism and Despair

John FarrellBy John Farrell2 Minutes

Jeff Allen has worked for more than forty-five years as a comedian. He’s appeared on America’s Got Talent, Dry Bar Comedy,  Amazon Prime, Huckabee, Comedy Central, VH-1, Family Net, and various other networks and shows. He also can be heard on several comedy channels on SiriusXM, as well as Pandora and Spotify. On YouTube, Facebook, and other social media outlets, his videos have more than half a billion views. Jeff also produced and starred in his own sitcom pilot and critically acclaimed film, Apostles of Comedy.

In early September 2023, his book, Are We There Yet?, was released. If the name of his book sounds familiar, it’s because he’s currently traveling on his tour of the same name. Both his book and his stand-up comedy act feature sidesplitting comedy that captures the humor found in everyday family life, the ups and downs of marriage, the challenge of raising children, the bliss of the empty nest, and the joys of being a grandparent. While both his show and book focus on these simple pleasures, his life wasn’t always joyous and seemingly easy. After battling alcoholism and drug addiction, as well as marital issues, a close friend helped him find God and eventually turn away from his past. His inspiring story is now one of hope, resilience, and redemption. As a comedian, his life is a reminder that laughter is a powerful tool for healing that reminds us that no matter how difficult life may seem, there is always hope.

Jeff Allen joins Inspiration Ministries’ John Farrell to delve deeper into his brand of comedy; his past, including his marriage and addiction problems; his new book; and his faith and the relationship that pointed him in the right direction — toward Jesus Christ.
