Winter Is Past: Moving from Doubt to Trust

Song of Solomon offers hope to weary hearts, reminding us that God brings renewal and fruitfulness when winter finally breaks.

“Winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard … the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance” (Song of Solomon 2:11–13).

For people going through difficult times, it can seem that nothing will ever change. They’ve felt stuck in their present circumstances for so long that it’s hard to imagine life being any different. It can seem that nothing works—that God doesn’t hear their prayers.

It can be hard to imagine that God really wants to bless them or that His blessings are already on the way. It can seem like they’re living through the coldest days of winter and that spring never will arrive.

But the promises in God’s Word really are true even as we go through the winters of our lives. In every circumstance, we still need to trust in God even if things don’t seem to change. We need to plant our seeds and continue to have faith.

If you’ve gone through a winter season, there is good news! God is with you, and His blessings are on the way. If you stay faithful, you can be confident that flowers will spring up and birds will sing their beautiful songs once again. The fragrance of blossoming grapevines will fill the air as He restores His fruitfulness and abundance to your life!

Banish doubt and worry! Declare God’s Word to be true in your life. Keep sowing seeds into His Kingdom from the time, talents, and treasures you’ve been given. God has promised that “in due season” you will reap if you don’t give up (Galatians 6:9).
