Singing. Praising. Testifying

David realized that it was not enough just to experience the goodness of God. It also was important to be grateful, and to praise and worship Him. This response was important in his personal life. But it also was important to be a witness to others.

He described this as praising God “among the people” and singing to Him “among the nations.” He felt compelled to tell others what God had done. To make sure others knew that he wanted God to get the glory.

Each of us, in our own ways, should realize how easily we can focus on ourselves and take God for granted. How quickly we can forget His blessings. How easily we can be distracted and fail to testify about Him!

In spite of His promises and the blessings from the past, we can look at current circumstances and become dominated by doubt, fear, and worry. We can become bogged down by sin and caught up in the pursuit of pleasure.

Today, instead of focusing on your own problems and interests, think about all that God has done for you. Declare your faith and gratitude in word and song. Allow Him to fill you with joy and peace. Praise Him. Don’t bottle up your feelings, but let your faith bubble over in your interactions with others. Tell them what God has done for you!

And express your faith by dedicating your time, talent, and treasure to His Kingdom. Use the resources He has given you that others might know and serve God. Truly, He is worthy of all praise!
