Abundant Blessings

Does God still reward faithfulness? From Abraham to Jacob, His abundant blessing flowed across generations—so much that the land could barely hold it.

“For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together. The land of their sojournings could not support them because of their livestock” (Genesis 36:7).

God called Abraham to take a journey of faith, to leave his home and go “to the land that I will show you.” Because of his obedience, God promised to bless Abraham and make him a great nation (Genesis 12:1–2).

As Abraham continued to obey, the blessings kept flowing. God promised these same blessings to his son Isaac (Genesis 26:3–5). Later, in a dispute between Isaac’s sons, the younger, Jacob, stole the birthright that rightfully belonged to elder, Esau. Jacob fled, living for years with his mother’s family. Even so, while there, Jacob “increased greatly” (Genesis 30:43).

When he returned to his homeland, afraid of Esau’s reaction, Jacob gave a significant percentage of his resources to his brother (Genesis 33:1–17). And the blessings kept flowing! Their property became “too great for them to dwell together.” God blessed them not because they deserved it, but because of His promise to their grandfather, Abraham, as a reward for his faith.

These are the kinds of blessings that Jesus promised to those who sow seeds into God’s Kingdom: “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38).

Today, realize the extent of God’s power. He wants to reward you for your faith and your faithfulness, blessing you in every area.
