Abundance and Blessing

What is God’s desire for us? Some think of Him as a judge, only concerned about enforcing rules and penalizing offenders. Some think that He is stingy, and that the way to success and pleasure is to do things our own way. Some think that being concerned about God is old-fashioned and unnecessary.

But the Bible gives us a completely different picture. Just consider the world He created. It was a place where every need was met. There was no sickness or death. No crime or war. It was a perfect world where He placed a man and a woman to be partners, to share life, and enjoy companionship.

There can be no clearer picture of God’s desire!

The Bible shows us that it was sin and disobedience that kept Adam and Eve from remaining in this world. In the lies he told them, the serpent tried to convince them that God was holding back, trying to prevent them from experiencing pleasure and their full potential.

But Jesus reminded us that Satan is a thief who “comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” In contrast, Jesus came that we “may have life.” He wasn’t stingy, but wanted us to have abundance (John 10:10).

The Bible also shows us that Jesus came to break the curse that resulted from sin. That He came “to destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). To redeem us “from the curse of the Law” (Galatians 3:13).

Don’t let the devil deceive you into believing that God doesn’t care about you. Remember, Jesus came to give you an abundant life, and victory.
