From Heartbroken Skeptic to Bold Believer

After heartbreak shattered his world, Kofi’s skepticism about seedtime and harvest shifted—and God used a video to spark faith and fruit.

Heartbroken Skeptic

Kofi, an African partner from Denmark, was highly skeptical of the popular biblical principle of seedtime and harvest. He explains, “I used to have a problem with preachers encouraging us to sow seeds in order to receive a turnaround in life. I always argued that God doesn’t sell miracles, and I thought that’s what they were doing.”

But then Kofi faced dark days when the love of his life told him goodbye. The separation shattered his heart. “I was utterly broken,” he says, looking back. This devastating experience caused him to reexamine many of his beliefs and assumptions. His hard heart toward those who preached about seedtime and harvest began to soften.

David’s Timely Video

One day as Kofi scrolled through Facebook posts, he stopped as a video captured his attention. At the beginning of the video, David Cerullo said, “Thank you for joining me today as we continue our series on how to receive breakthrough from God and unleash His blessings in your life!” Kofi was intrigued. He certainly was in need of a breakthrough.

David was sharing the secrets to breaking through any hard situation, and he focused on one specific Bible verse—Genesis 8:22—which says, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” Suddenly a ray of hope penetrated Kofi’s gloom. David’s online video helped him see that if he changed the seeds he sowed, he would also change the harvests he received.

Becoming a Bold Believer 

Kofi has learned that the Christian life is not only about breakthroughs—we must heed the call to grow in our faith and walk with Christ every day. In the months after seeing that first video teaching from David, other discipleship resources produced by Inspiration Ministries have strengthened Kofi.
