The Working of God’s Word Today

I’d like to announce that when you work the Word of God, the Word of God will work for you. One of my favorite Bible passages in the Scriptures is in the New Testament. It’s found in Matthew chapter 8. You’ll recall that there was a centurion who had a servant who was sick. And when Jesus was journeying on throughout Galilee and throughout all of the areas of Israel, that centurion said, “You know what? I want Jesus to come bring healing to my servant.”

I think you’ll remember the story. Well the Bible says that Jesus said, “I’m going to come to the centurion and heal that servant.” But that centurion felt unworthy that Jesus would come to his house. So he met him halfway and said, “Jesus, listen, I’m not worthy that You would come to my house. But I’ve got an idea. If You’ll send the Word I’ll believe that Your Word will work.”

Let me say that again. When you decide to work the Word of God, the Word of God will work for you.

Today friends, maybe like that centurion there’s a need in your home, in your finances, or in your family. Maybe there’s a need on the job. If you’ll put in the work, I promise you one thing, the Word of God will work for you. You remember the rest of the story. So Jesus sends His Word and the Bible says at that same exact time healing took place in that centurion’s home.

I want to encourage every one of you to remember this: Psalm 107:20. The Bible reminds us that He sent forth His Word and His Word healed them and delivered them from destruction. No matter what’s happening in your world, no matter what’s going on in your space, have faith that if you allow God to send His Word to your situation, that situation will work out. All things work together for the good of them who love God and are called according to his purpose.

I want to encourage you to work the Word of God. We’re talking about the wealth, the witness, the ways, the worth, but nothing else quite works quite well like the Word of God. But friends, you’ll have to work it. That centurion felt so embarrassed, so ashamed and so unworthy. That didn’t stop Jesus from sending His Word. No matter who you are right now, and no matter what’s going on in your family or your home – maybe there’s some things that brought shame or guilt or hurt or embarrassment. Those things matter not to the Lord. You know what matters to Him? That you had faith enough to hear the Word.

And guess what? You’ll have faith enough to work the Word of God. Read it, study it, and apply it. Read it again. Study it. Apply it. And watch the working of God’s Word in your life.

I’d like to pray with you. Father, would you so reveal your power through the working of your Word in the situations, the dilemmas, the circumstances of every man and woman, boy and girl today? So God, thank you for proving yourself strong and mighty, through the working of your Word. And I set my faith in agreement with theirs, that all things will work together for the good of them. Father bless them good. In Christ’s name we ask, we pray, and amen.
