Living in God’s Word and Growing in Your Life with Christ

A newborn baby has so much to learn in order to thrive and grow. From the moment they’re born, babies begin the lifelong process of learning and discovering the world around them.

In the same way, when you began your new life in Christ, there were many things you didn’t know about living the Christian life. There were many things you needed to learn in order to grow in your new faith.

However, newborn Christians aren’t the only ones who need to grow. Even long-time believers must maintain a passionate commitment to keep growing in intimacy with the Lord.

In fact, according to medical science, once a living organism stops growing, it begins to die.

Look to Apostle Paul

Even the Apostle Paul, who wrote two-thirds of the New Testament, spoke of wanting to know the Lord. Surely he, of all people, knew the Lord; but he longed for a deeper, more intimate relationship.  Look at what he said:

But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Jesus Christ my Lord . . . that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection. . . I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:7-14).

Does your heart cry out to know Him more? Do you want what Paul wanted? You’re not alone if you answered, “Yes” — even Jesus, the sinless son of God, displayed a fervent desire to learn the Scriptures, gain wisdom, and grow spiritually.

Will You Make the Choice?

Jesus didn’t assume that spiritual growth would come automatically, even to Him. It’s written that “Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52).

Will you make a similar choice as Jesus? Will you decide to make a choice to learn everything possible about God’s Word?

God’s will is that you never stop growing! No matter how mature or immature you may feel in your spiritual life right now, the Lord is beckoning you to a great adventure of ever-increasing intimacy with Him.

No matter what you’re experiencing right now — financial insecurity, marital problems, temptation, health concerns, or more — you can leave those problems behind when you choose to live in His Word.
