Hi, I’m Dr. Mike Smalley. And I’m teaching today, How to Prosper in Hard Times God’s Way. It’s one of my books that I’ve written and I’m so thankful that you’ve joined me for this edition of Strengthen Your Walk™. The Scripture lays out many, many principles and laws for divine provision. There’s the law of listening. There’s the law of what I call insects. Proverbs said “Go to the ant and study the ant and be wise.” There’s financial secrets from studying the ant.

Proverbs gives a whole lot of them. I list them out in my book. One of those ways is mentorship. One of those ways is listening. Here’s a question for you. Can you learn from somebody you don’t like? Can you learn from someone you don’t enjoy? Oftentimes people around us have prosperity or wealth secrets inside of us. It could be that they’re good at investing. It could be that they’re good at starting a business. It could be that they’re good in an entrepreneurial thinking mindset and you need that. The rest of their personality could be horrible. Could be hard to be around. But if you reject someone and what they have to bring to your table because there’s parts of them you don’t like, you’re going to miss out on a lot of gold in your life.

The law of listening, God told us to honor our father and mother. There’s a financial reward even linked to that. It didn’t say you had to agree with your father and mother. It didn’t say you had to like your father and mother, but it said honor them. So, something you need is inside of somebody else you may not like, you may not enjoy. But extracting that gold, extracting those nuggets and implementing into your life is a great key to prosperity.

Can you learn from a mentor? Can you learn from a teacher? You know, I don’t go to my dentist to cut my hair. I don’t go to Mexican food restaurants because I’m craving lasagna. I don’t go to Chinese restaurants because I want chicken fried steak. Everything’s got its place and its role. So there are people I don’t particularly like their view on politics, but they’re brilliant on how to fix cars. So, you go to the right people for the right thing.

Who in your life do you presently know? Who do you presently have access to that you can ask questions of? That you can let them be a mentor to you? Can you ignore the rough edges of their personality? Can you look past all that for the gold of something inside of them? The law of listening, the law of asking questions. It’s one of the overlooked keys to divine prosperity. God wants you and I to prosper in hard times and good times His way. His way is to ask questions and to listen. Thank you for joining me today for this edition of Strengthen Your Walk™.
