Does God Exist?

Melissa HendersonBy Melissa Henderson3 Minutes

Praise often comes when life is going great. Health, finances, and relationships are good. Prayers of thanksgiving are offered. Everything is moving along positively. Then, the unexpected happens. A life-changing event, financial distress, troublesome medical diagnosis, or something else, sends us into a spiral of worry and fear. Have you ever heard someone wonder “Does God exist?” The answer is yes.

As Christians, we know God does exist. God is present with us in every moment. When we cry, God is there holding us in His loving arms. When we are filled with joy, God is joyful. When we praise Him, God hears our praises.

There is not a time when God does not exist. Scripture was given by God so that we may learn history and know Him. By reading His Word, we can glean wisdom and discernment. Every time we read the Bible, we are drawing closer to God.

How do you answer when someone questions the existence of God? Do you refer them to Scripture? Do you pray for and with the person? Are there certain verses that helped your faith journey?

Each person is at a different point in their walk with God. There are new believers and folks who have believed since they were young children. Sharing time and fellowship with other believers can strengthen our faith. Studying the Bible can lead to answers.

Many people have shared experiences that led them to believe or strengthen their belief that God does exist. A near-miss car crash, a miraculous healing, the return of a prodigal child, and the beauty of creations such as the sunset and sunrise, are a few examples of proof that God exists.

A few things may help in seeking answers. First, read the Word of God. Ask clergy or other trusted believers about any questions that need clarification.

Trust. Trust the words of Scripture. A Bible study can be an asset when seeking answers.

Know the truth. Yes, God does exist. His Word was given so that we may know Him.

The first words of the Bible share profound truth. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1 NIV).

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV).

God loves His creations. He listens when we pray. He comforts us when we lament. God never leaves.

Yes, God does exist. How can you have a deeper relationship with the Father? Pray. Repent of sins, ask for forgiveness, accept His forgiveness, and know you are loved and cherished by God.

In His Name,
