Did Jesus Really Live a Sinless Life?

Did Jesus really live a sinless life? The answer is yes. Jesus, the Son of God, was born into the earthly world and lived for His Father. He obeyed the will of God and although there were times of desperation, heartache, fear, and misery, Jesus knew His role was to carry out the plans of His Father. Jesus experienced the emotions of a human, yet He was fully divine.

Scripture tells that the Son of God was born of the virgin Mary. She was told to give the child the name Jesus. Although Mary had questions, she listened and obeyed. The angel Gabriel shared that Mary had found favor with God. The child would be King over the family of Jacob and His nation would endure forever.

Mary and Joseph, the earthly parents of Jesus, traveled a long distance to participate in the required census. After arriving in Bethlehem, the baby was born and an angel of the Lord appeared to shepherds in the fields. The angel brought the good news of the birth of the Messiah.

Because of the sinless life of Jesus, we have hope. Jesus was the sacrifice for our sins. The first sins came when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. The consequence of sin was death.

Jesus was tempted at various times in His life but He never sinned. The Bible tells that Jesus, the Son of God, did not sin. The devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness. Jesus didn’t listen or fall for the ploys of the evil one.

“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” (1 Peter 2:22 NIV)

Throughout the New Testament, we read about the emotions Jesus experienced. The gospel of John shares that Jesus told the people about the joy coming from obeying God. Other parts of the Bible share about Jesus needing to be alone and refreshed. Jesus also became angry when people lived in sinful ways. Jesus wanted every person to be loved and included.

One verse in the Bible reminds us of the heartfelt love of Jesus for friends and family. Can you picture Jesus weeping at hearing the news that His dear friend Lazarus had died? Jesus loved Lazarus and was sad at his passing.

“Jesus wept.” (John 11:35 NIV)

Jesus journeyed through every feeling and emotion that we have encountered. Yet, He lived a sinless life. Jesus, the Son of God, committed no sins.

As humans, we are sinful people. Our hope is found in knowing God. We can go to God, acknowledge our sins, repent, and ask for His forgiveness.

Yes, Jesus lived a sinless life. He died so that we may live with hope in God.

Dear God, thank You for Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for His sinless life. Guide us to be ready to share the good news of the Gospel. Amen.

In His Name,

Melissa Henderson
