Blessing in Disguise: A Car Wreck Became the Perfect Provision

Don’t you just love it when God shows up at the right time with exactly the right provision? Recently, a friend going through a challenging time financially shared this amazing story.

Not long ago, someone hit my friend’s car, totaling it. God miraculously provided a new car for him with affordable payments even though he didn’t have a full-time job.

Around the same time, a huge, unexpected expense occurred. While my friend was wondering how he would pay that bill, a check arrived in the mail — for the exact amount he owed! It was an insurance settlement from the earlier car accident.

We wouldn’t ordinarily think of a wrecked car as a blessing. But God knew all along what my friend would need. Because God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9), His plans for provision often look different from what we expect. So how can we learn to see God’s provision in our lives?

Expect the Unexpected

When the Israelites were wandering in the desert after leaving Egypt, they complained about being hungry. God sent them two provisions they had not anticipated — quail and manna.

While it’s tempting to grumble about our difficulties, let’s instead show God our gratefulness by focusing on the unexpected blessings in the middle of the mess.

Remember, “We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 ESV).

Pursue God First

We think we know exactly what we need, but God knows what we REALLY need: more of Him.

When we pursue God first, He promises to take care of us and richly bless our lives. Matthew 6:25-33 (ESV) says,But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Can you think of a better promise?

No matter your circumstances, you can be confident in God’s blessings of provision!
