Passover: The Lamb of God

In every other religion, salvation depends on what you do to get to Heaven. It is about your good works outweighing your bad works on some celestial scale. But Christianity is different. The Bible tells us that “everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard” (Romans 3:23).

Christianity shows us that humankind needs a Savior. That is why it is so poignant that Jesus was crucified during the Feast of Passover.

It was the blood of the first Passover lamb smeared over the doorpost that covered the sins of the Children of Israel in Egypt. As a result, the death angel “passed over” the houses covered in the blood of the lamb.

“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you” (Exodus 12:13).

As Christians, we know the blood of Jesus – the Lamb of God – not only covers, but washes away our sins.

“For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us” (1 Corinthians 5:7).

Just as God has provided the blood of the lamb for His people on that first Passover, Jesus Christ has given His blood to cover the sins of all people for all time.

During this Passover, may you rest in the peace of God, knowing that your sins have been washed away by the blood of the Lamb.
