‘All Gave Some, Some Gave All’

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

Memorial Day was first celebrated on May 5, 1866, in Waterloo, New York, to commemorate the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the armed forces.

Many American soldiers selflessly protected their country and its citizens by sacrificing their lives, sometimes paying the ultimate sacrifice. As John the Apostle describes in John 15:13, this type of sacrifice is the greatest display of love:

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

This mentality and dedication is what sets soldiers apart from many citizens. This sacrificial love carries with it a price, not only to the soldier, but also to those who love him or her. The families of the fallen are impacted forever, and their sacrifice never ends.

It is because of these brave men and women that we as Americans are able to celebrate our freedoms. We thank God for those soldiers who paid for those freedoms with their lives, those who currently protect us, and those who will take their place in the future. As the popular saying goes, “All gave some, some gave all.”

In Romans, Paul tells us to, “Give to everyone what you owe them… if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.”

This Memorial Day, we ask you to join us in remembering all the men and women who died protecting our great country. We also pray God bestows upon you His grace as you honor your loved ones who “gave all.”

God bless you,
