Kirk Cameron and Building Up Stronger Christian Families in Troubled Times

Kirk Cameron got his start on the small screen appearing in commercials for several big brands like McDonald’s and Polaroid. However, it wasn’t until 1985 that he got his big break when he was cast as the oldest child, Mike Seaver, on the hugely popular ABC sitcom Growing Pains.  The show ran for seven seasons, calling it quits in 1992.

After starring in several movies in the last 1980s and early 1990s, Kirk started appearing in more faith-based films in 2000, headlining Left Behind: The Movie (2000), Left Behind II: Tribulation Force (2002), Left Behind III: World at War (2005), and Fireproof (2008), among others.

More recently, Kirk published his first children’s book with Brave Books, titled As You Grow, which teaches kids how to grow in wisdom through the fruit of the Spirit. Then in early June 2023, his second collaboration with the publisher, titled Pride Comes Before the Fall, was released. His second children’s book with Brave Books teaches kids the dangers of being prideful and the importance of having a humble spirit instead. Both books are part of the publisher’s Freedom Island book series.

John Farrell and Julia Page McCarley of Inspiration Ministries caught up with Kirk to discuss Pride Comes Before the Fall while in New York City on a book tour promoting the new release with the hope of uniting families in faith and nurturing children in Christian love rather than worldly pride. He stands firm in preserving Christian values amidst the multitude of conflicting voices.
