Who Is Jesus to You?

“God … has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.”—Ephesians 1:3–4

Paul began his letter to the Ephesian church by focusing on the unique role Jesus played for Christians. Some might have thought that He was a philosopher like Plato or Aristotle. Perhaps He was a wise teacher or a political activist seeking converts to enforce His agenda. But Jesus is much more.

Through Him we have “every spiritual blessing.” God “chose us in Him before the foundation of the world.” Paul wanted Christians to know that their lives have a purpose because of Jesus, and He had a special calling for each believer. They were in the world and surrounded by people with many beliefs and personalities, but God desired that they live holy lives and be without blame before Him.

As believers throughout the centuries have discovered, Jesus changes everything! No matter what we have done, God will forgive and accept us! He is central to all life. He holds all creation together. We find meaning, purpose, and fulfillment when we base our lives on Him. Through Jesus, God provides us with an inheritance. He is our example and model.

Who is Jesus to you? A wise teacher? A prophet? A good man? Or is He your Lord and Savior? Dedicate your life to Him and spend time reading His Word. Fellowship with Him. Listen to His voice. Seek to serve Him with all your time, talents, and treasures.
