Vindication

Even in the face of mockery and rejection, “Vindication” reminds us that God sees, hears, and will defend those who stay faithful to Him.

“’I have heard the taunting of Moab and the abusive speech of the sons of Ammon’ […] because they have taunted and boasted against the people of the LORD of armies. The LORD will be terrifying to them.”—Zephaniah 2:8–11 NASB

The reactions of others can easily influence us. Their words can make us feel either encouraged or discouraged, accepted or rejected. They can hurt our feelings or pressure us to make changes in matters like taste and style or even our faith and what we believe.

Today, mockers—arrogant men and women who defy the Bible and make fun of Christians—fill the world. God knows what these people are saying and the pressures they can apply on His people.

Similar things happened during the time of Zephaniah. God heard all the reviling and taunting of His people. Seeing the pride of the mockers, He warned that He would “be terrifying to them” and judge them for their words and deeds, while He protected and vindicated His people.

This same principle is true today. Faced with taunts and criticism in the world, some Christians fail to stand firm, but give in. Others adopt the ways of the world or stop believing. But God wants us to remain faithful and continue trusting in Him, no matter what other people say or do.

God is with you in every situation. He knows what you’re going through. If people around you are arrogant, seek to stay humble, allowing the Lord to intervene. If others condemn or mock you for your faith, stay strong.

Refuse to compromise. If you remain faithful, God will vindicate you, protect you, and reward you.
