Unstable Souls

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

The Bible reminds us that we all sin and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). All of us are tempted. But Peter warned that some people are particularly vulnerable to temptation.

Who are they? Peter describes them as “unstable souls”—people whose minds and hearts are not fixed and firm. They are prone to vacillate, waver, and change their minds. They aren’t sure of their convictions or of what is true and false. They have a hard time recognizing and resisting false teachings.

Even though such people may read the Bible and attend church, they are more concerned with the things of this world, the opinions of other people, and what is popular. As a result, they are easily deceived and prone to fall into error or be lured into traps.

Peter warned that deception is all around us and that some people will take delight in trying to deceive us. These people have hearts that “never cease from sin.” Their eyes always look for adultery, and they seek to take advantage of others for their own pleasure. They refuse to stop or hold back from their evil ways.

What can we do to make sure our souls are stable? First, we must fix our hearts and minds on God and develop a more intimate relationship with Him. We also must resolutely declare that Jesus is our Lord, fill our lives with His Word, and seek to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Today, you need to be ready for the deception that is all around. Don’t be surprised or caught off guard. Declare the Promises of God to be true in your life. Make Him your Rock. Make sure that your soul is firm and stable.
