The Power of God

Do you believe God’s power is still as real and available today as it was in the early church?

“The kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power” (1 Corinthians 4:20).

We hardly need to be reminded that our world is filled with troubles. In the midst of difficult times, there is only one hope, one answer: the Gospel of Jesus Christ, spread through an outpouring of the Spirit and the mighty witness of millions of believers on fire for God.

The early church grew because the power of God changed lives, healed the sick, cast out demons, performed miracles, and even raised the dead. No one could argue with such power. It changed the destiny of nations and shook people from their lethargy. It gave hope to the desperate, peace to the troubled, and joy to the weary and worried.

When the Kingdom of God comes in power, we experience a supernatural realm that is beyond human understanding. This is the Kingdom of God in action.

God’s power is as real today as it was in the early church. You have access to His incredible power, but you need the Holy Spirit flowing in your life.

Have faith to believe that God will honor His Word, that His power is available to you, and that His power can work through you to perform miracles and change lives.

Right now, seek to be filled with His Spirit. Cry out for God’s power. Be ready to believe that His power is available for you and step out in faith. Let God use you to change lives and bring hope.

Reflection Question: Ask God to pour out His Spirit and demonstrate His Kingdom through you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of miracles marked the early church’s growth?

Acts records healings (Acts 3:1–10)‚ deliverance from demonic oppression (Acts 16:16–18)‚ and even resurrections (Acts 9:36–42‚ 20:9–12)‚ alongside bold preaching—together these gave the early church a credibility no rhetoric alone could produce.

What’s the difference between “talk” and “power” in 1 Corinthians 4:20?

Paul was addressing Corinthian believers who were impressed by eloquent teachers but lacked spiritual substance. He argues the Kingdom is authenticated by the Spirit’s active work in changed lives‚ not by how persuasively someone can talk about it.
