Strategy for Impact

Do you know how to share the Gospel in a way that actually reaches the person in front of you?

“‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How … are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” (Romans 10:13–14).

Paul understood the importance of strategy. The question was not his mission in life or why he’d been saved, but how to have the greatest impact—communicating the Gospel in the most effective way possible.

As he explained to the Corinthians, he had “become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.” To reach those under the Law, for example, he became as “under the law.” Though he was free, at times he made himself “a servant to all, that I might win more of them.” He became “as a Jew, in order to win Jews.” And to the weak, he became weak (1 Corinthians 9:19–22).

These are principles we must consider. First, we need to be clear about our goals and our personal mission. We need to be sensitive to God’s call on our lives—how we can uniquely serve Him and impact others through sharing the Gospel.

Paul tells us that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Then he emphasizes the importance of hearing and the need for there to be preachers who bring the Good News to others. The challenge for each of us is to be a living testimony for Christ.

We must stay true to our faith, remain anchored in God’s Word, and be open to the leading of His Spirit as we seek strategies to serve Him and impact more lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What did Paul mean by becoming “all things to all people”?

Paul wasn’t compromising his convictions; he was adapting his approach‚ dietary customs, and points of contact to each audience’s background so the gospel message itself wouldn’t be needlessly obscured by unnecessary cultural friction (1 Corinthians 9:19–23).

What does Romans 10:14–15 teach about the role of preachers?

Paul lays out a chain: people call on the Lord because they believe, believe because they hear, hear because someone preaches, and someone preaches because they were sent—underscoring that gospel outreach depends on ordinary people being willing to go.
