The Fullness of Joy

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

John wanted us to be “full” of joy. He used a Greek word referring to vessels which could be filled to overflowing.

He was painting a picture of the abundance God wants to pour into us. His message expressed that God is willing to pour so much joy into our lives that the blessings run over! He knew that God had prepared overwhelming blessings for His people. Yet so many failed to receive all these riches.

This fullness is a central theme of the Gospel message. Paul, for example, prayed that Believers would “be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19). Jesus Himself said that He had spoken words to His disciples “that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).

As we look at our lives, we can be dominated by the things of this world—our own condition or our own skills and resources. We can be overwhelmed by our limitations or intimidated by our weaknesses.

But the Bible continually reminds us that we need to focus on God’s full abundance,  remembering that He is the Creator and that He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

Instead of thinking about our limitations, we need to focus on God’s overwhelming power and resources. Remember how much He has promised and prepared for us.  Believe that He desires for us to overflow with blessings.

Today, ask God to give you a revelation of the fullness He has prepared for you! Don’t think of Him as a miser, but as your loving, generous Father. Remember that He delights to bless His children and pour out His abundance on them.

Let the Lord fill you to overflowing with His blessings. Let Him bless you, that you might be a blessing to others.
