The Fulfillment of Prophetic Truth

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

The fulfillment of prophetic truth through Israel’s rebirth shows that God’s Word always stands—no matter how long it takes or who doubts it.

“I am going to open your graves … My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel … and I will place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken and done it.”—Ezekiel 37:12–14 NASB

On this day in 1917, British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour issued a declaration that called for the “establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” This assertion was part of a letter written to Baron Rothschild, and it pledged British support for efforts to create a national homeland for Jews. It was a crucial step in the process that culminated in 1948 when the state of Israel was formed.

Although this declaration was certainly encouraged by Chaim Weizmann, Nahum Sokolow, and other Zionist leaders, at the same time, many within the British government opposed the declaration.

Yet those who understood biblical prophecy knew that thousands of years earlier, God had told Ezekiel that He would open the graves of His people and bring them back “into the land of Israel.” For centuries, it seemed that God’s promise would never be fulfilled, but He never forgot His Word … and He used Arthur Balfour to help bring nationhood to Israel.

God wants you to realize that His Word is sure and true, regardless of the circumstances you face or conditions in the world. He is fulfilling His plans for the nations, and He has a plan for your life. He wants you to trust Him in every situation and not rely on appearances, your own strength, or the opinions of other people.

Make your own declaration today. Declare your faith in God and His timeless Word.

Reflection Question: What promise from God’s Word are you declaring over your life today?
