Standing Strong on God’s Truth

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

Standing Strong on God’s Truth calls you to anchor your life in Scripture and uphold God’s standards even when culture pushes the opposite way.

“O LORD, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you ‘Violence!’ and you will not save? […] So the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth” (Habakkuk 1:2, 4).

People were ignoring God’s Word. Wickedness and immorality were everywhere. Despite an epidemic of violence and conflict, people showed little concern for justice or truth.

The prophet Habakkuk knew his land was paying a terrible price for ignoring God’s Word. He understood that their only hope was to make God’s truth the foundation for society.

People acted as if God’s law didn’t matter. Flaunting God’s law had caused society to deteriorate into chaos where justice was perverted with bribes and trickery. Instead of submitting their lives to God and His laws, people followed their own desires, ignoring His standards and commands.

In many ways, the cries of Habakkuk reflect the conditions of our time. Many influential people, like politicians and celebrities, encourage us to ignore God’s Word. Powerful forces seek to have the Bible eliminated from our schools, courts, and government. Every Christian should be concerned about this trend. We must stand for truth and refuse to compromise.

Do your part by studying God’s Word and depending on it for your direction in life. Commit your life to the Lord and seek first His Kingdom. Don’t be afraid or intimidated by the opinions of others, but be ready to speak out boldly. Get involved in community issues, as God directs you. Vote whenever you have the opportunity. And remember to pray for your country and its leaders.

Reflection Question: How can you stand for God’s truth in your daily choices?

Prayer
O God, forgive the sins of my people. We have ignored Your Word and violated Your truth. Bring about revival. Use me, I pray. In Jesus’ name, amen.
