Spiritual Opposition

Daniel prayed and sought God, but for days he received no answer. What thoughts went through his mind? Why weren’t his prayers answered? Had he displeased God? Was he guilty of sin?

Finally, he received God’s reply. His prayers had been heard. In fact, they were heard the first moment he prayed. Why, then, had he not been told anything for several weeks? Because of spiritual warfare in the Heavenly realm. God had sent the answer, but Daniel simply hadn’t received it. Finally, the answer arrived…twenty-one days after he prayed—and only because the archangel Michael helped the messenger break free.

Today, remember that you, too, are involved in spiritual warfare. The devil and his demons are thieves (John 10:10), seeking to steal your joy, rob you of God’s blessings, destroy His work in your life, and delay His answers to your prayers.

This is a real battle and an intense battle. Remember that God has given you spiritual authority. Arm yourself with the “whole armor of God” so you can “stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). Remember that “the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh.” If you fight in the Spirit, you can tear down strongholds of the enemy (2 Corinthians 10:4).

Also remember to be persistent. Pray fervently, passionately, and boldly. If you don’t receive answers at first, don’t give up. Have faith. God hears your prayers. He will answer you!
