Resurrection Power

Resurrection Power

How do we appropriate the power of the resurrection? That is a big question for many Christians. They may be saved and believe in the resurrection but not sure how to appropriate resurrection power. Paul provided some insights in his letter to the Philippians.

He knew that we naturally focus on ourselves. But if we want to know the power of the resurrection, everything else must be put aside. Everything else must be like “rubbish,” so we can “gain Christ and be found in Him” (v. 8-9). We must realize that we have no righteousness of our own and receive His blessings and power through faith.

Paul wrote that we need to look at life in a new way. Our goal must not be power, attention, pleasure, or recognition. Our goal must be to “know Him and the power of His resurrection.” We are to “count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus [our] Lord.” We should be willing to suffer “the loss of all things” if necessary (v. 8). We should not think about ourselves but must “be found in Him” and live by faith in Him (v. 9).

If you want the fullness of His power, make sure Jesus has first place in your life. Make Him your highest priority. Spend time with Him. Read His Word. Seek Him with your whole heart.
