Strength to Stand When You Feel Worn Down

“He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law” (Daniel 7:25).

God gave Daniel a vivid vision of His people as worn down, assaulted, oppressed, pressured, overpowered, and victimized.

The goal of their enemy, the devil, was to rob them of God’s blessings, distract and deceive them, and keep them from obedience. He wanted to keep them from following God’s calendar and understanding the times in which they lived.

But Daniel saw that this dominion of darkness would be “taken away, to be consumed and destroyed to the end” (v. 26). Although the saints might be assaulted for a season, they would experience complete victory. The “Ancient of Days” would come, and the saints would take possession of the Kingdom (v. 22).

We, too, are in a spiritual war. We have an enemy who will attack us in every way possible. We should not be surprised when we feel worn down. Our foe is desperate, and he “comes only to steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10). Yet as Daniel saw, we need to realize this foe is already defeated! Stand on God’s Word, and don’t allow yourself to be confused.

Do you feel assaulted? Under pressure? Remember that you’re in a spiritual war. But through Jesus, you already have the victory! (1 Corinthians 15:57)

Don’t accept the devil’s lies, but put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–17). Stand on the Word. Seek the Lord’s understanding for the times in which we live and for His calendar.
