Faithfulness

Remain in Faithfulness

It was the most important day of his life. An angel appeared to him to announce that he and his wife, Elizabeth, would have a son who would be the forerunner of the Messiah. But to Zechariah, this day began like any other. He had a job and went about “performing his priestly service.”

We see this pattern throughout the story of Jesus’ birth. We see person after person simply doing their duty, being faithful. This was the case with Mary and Joseph. This was true of the shepherds; magi; and Simeon, a “righteous and devout” man who had the privilege of holding baby Jesus and praying a special blessing (Luke 2:25). This was true of Anna, who was going about her lifelong commitment to serve and worship God when she had the privilege of seeing baby Jesus.

These men and women demonstrate how much God values those who are dependable. They may not attract headlines, but, day after day, they do every assignment faithfully. Their faithfulness makes them special in His sight.

Remember God has a special calling just for you. He has given you specific resources to accomplish this calling. He looks at your heart to see what is important to you. He looks at your life to see what you’re doing with your resources.

You never know what a day may bring. Your task is to stay faithful in whatever God calls you to do every day.
