Peace

As a young girl, Catherine Marshall wanted to attend college, but her family did not have enough money. Undaunted, she prayed, and God answered her prayer, providing a way for her to go. There she met Peter Marshall, the man who became her husband and who later became prominent as the chaplain of the U.S. Senate.

After they were married, Catherine was diagnosed with tuberculosis. As she prayed about this illness, she sensed the presence of Jesus: “I knew that Jesus was smiling at me…His attitude seemed to say, ‘Relax! There’s not a thing wrong here that I can’t take care of.’ The unforgettable truth of David’s Psalm 23 came alive in my experience.” This psalm reassured her that she could trust in God. And, within six months, she was completely healed.

Later, when her husband died suddenly, she again turned to this psalm. She wrote, “‘Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life,’ was His personal pledge to me.” God gave her the hope and peace she needed.

Today, the promises of this psalm are true for you. They are true if you feel worried or afraid, if you have financial problems or need healing.

Call on God. He is ready to provide for you and give you peace. He is your Shepherd. He will lead you beside still waters and restore your soul.
