Nothing More

God’s people were plagued with problems. He offered to help, but they rode away on swift horses, seeking the fastest escape possible. God warned that running away was not the answer. No matter how swiftly they fled, their pursuers would come after them. They simply would find no place on earth free from problems.

But God offered them a plan that would work! This plan was radically different: Return to Me. Rest in Me. Be bold enough to believe Me. We’re told this same message in other passages, such as Psalm 46:10:“Be still, and know that I am God.”

In Isaiah’s day, God said that if His people did these things, they would find the strength they needed “in quietness and confidence.” The Hebrew word translated “confidence,” used here for the only time in the Bible, suggests a place where there is nothing more we can do. God was their only hope!

Many people still think they can find answers by running away to a new job, a new home, a new marriage or relationship, or a new wardrobe. But the real answer is to trust in God in every situation, to look to Him for deliverance, to be confident and have faith in Him, to be faithful and obedient to the tasks He has given us—not to run, but to stand in Him.

Today, commit the problems you face to the Lord. Ask Him for the solutions and answers you need. Ask for help and guidance, protection and wisdom, blessing and favor. Look to Him for the right strategies. As you trust in Him, let Him give you His peace.
