No Need to Fear

How do we react in times of trouble? When we are overwhelmed with problems? When nothing seems to work? When we’re surrounded by enemies?

We can feel intimidated or inadequate for the challenges we face. We can feel insignificant, unimportant, or hopeless. We may lack confidence and be unsure of what to do.

These are times to remind ourselves of the promises of God: The Bible tells we should not place our hope in this world or live according to the world’s standards. The Bible says we are to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). The Bible encourages us that God is more powerful than any person, any government, any force, any opposition we face…any problem.

Consider your own situation. Are there people who make you afraid? Do you face difficulties that seem overwhelming? Do you feel under attack and vulnerable? Are you worried about your family? Your finances? Your future?

If your eyes are on the world, you can become filled with fear. If you depend on yourself and your own resources, you can become worried or anxious. But everything changes when you truly depend on God.

Remember the words of the psalmist: “Why should I fear when trouble comes?” (NLT) God is your Guide, your Shield, and your Defender. He can provide victory and safety, fulfillment and satisfaction. You can depend on Him to meet your needs and help you overcome your problems.
