No Blemishes

“Love is blind.” A phrase that originated in William Shakespeare’s play “The Merchant Of Venice.” This phrase often describes a relationship when love is new. Sadly, these all-consuming passions can fade as love becomes overshadowed by flaws which once seemed unimportant.

Human love may be blind, but only for a season. God’s love is different. It’s so great that nothing can separate us from this love (Romans 8:35-39). So great that “we love, because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). It is patient, kind, and never jealous. It never gives up, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). It because of this love that God sent Jesus into the world (John 3:16).

But this love can be broken if our affections wander. As Adam and Eve discovered, sin can separate us from God, block the flow of His blessings, and keep us from entering into His presence.

But the Bible tells us that “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). He promises, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).

We see a picture of God’s view of our lives in Song of Solomon. Regardless of what the woman thinks of her appearance, her man sees no flaws. Through eyes of love, he sees nothing but beauty. That is how God sees us. In His sight, we are clean. Pure. Completely forgiven.

Today, don’t hide from God or let sin block His blessings. Confess your sins to Him. Seek His forgiveness and cleansing. Be confident that you are forgiven. Experience His freedom and realize just how special you are to Him. He longs to fellowship with you. To show you how much He loves you.
