Nine Blessings

Is the Bible irrelevant? Out of date? Just a book of stories? Many people think so. Even some Christians don’t take the Bible seriously. But in fact, the Bible is the living Word of God. It holds the keys to solutions to life’s problems and treasures beyond belief.

In Psalm 19, David identified nine powerful reasons we need to know and apply God’s Word to our lives today. It changes our lives. It is “perfect, converting the soul” (v. 7). And it gives us wisdom, “making wise the simple” (v. 7).

God’s Word fills us with joy, rejoicing our hearts (v. 8). It teaches us. It is “pure, enlightening the eyes” (v. 8). It applies in every situation. It is “clean, enduring forever” (v. 9). It guides us. It is “true and righteous altogether” (v. 9).

God’s Word is better than earthly riches, more to be desired than gold (v. 10). It prepares and warns us (v. 11). And it brings “great reward” (v. 11).

At the end of this magnificent psalm, David prayed, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer” (v. 14). Let that be your prayer today.

Don’t let the world rob you of the incalculable riches God has prepared for you. Fill your mind and heart with the Bible! Know it. Obey it. Let it change your life!
