How God Gets Our Attention

The results would be clear. As Moses reminded the Israelites, if they obeyed God and kept His Word, He would bless and protect them and grant them favor. In contrast, they could expect a range of problems if they failed to obey Him.

Moses described ways God might speak to them, including a deep restlessness, a profound sense of uncertainty and doubt, and a constant sense of dread and turmoil. However, many Believers can testify that these “feelings” don’t always mean we’ve been blatantly disobedient. In fact, God may use these ways to warn us or get our attention and help us recognize when we’re out of His will.

We shouldn’t automatically assume when we feel turmoil or unease that God is speaking to us. But we need to realize that this is one way God can get our attention.

The Bible tells us that the life of a Believer is to be characterized by peace. God’s peace is a sure sign that we’re living in harmony with Him.

As Paul wrote, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts” (Colossians 3:15). If our lives are filled with anxiety, worry, stress, or fear rather than peace, we must look to God and commit our cares to Him (Philippians 4:6-7).

Today, seek peace from God. Be sensitive to those moments when He might be speaking to you. Deepen your personal relationship with Him. Let Him lead and guide you!
