God’s Word

Those who treasure God’s Word will find wisdom, joy, and direction—far more valuable than gold or anything this world can offer.

“The law of the LORD is perfect … the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart … By them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.”—Psalm 19:7–11 NKJV

Is the Bible irrelevant? Out of date? Just a book of stories and myths? This is what many people think. Even some Christians don’t really take the Bible seriously. To them, its teachings are optional—mere suggestions. But, as believers throughout history have discovered, the Bible is the living Word of God, the key to treasures beyond belief. In Psalm 19, David testifies that God’s Word:

Changes our lives: “The law … is perfect, converting the soul.”

Gives us wisdom: “The testimony … is sure, making wise the simple.”

Fills us with joy: “The statutes. .. are right, rejoicing the heart.”

Teaches us: “The commandment … is pure, enlightening the eyes.”

Applies in every situation: “The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever.”

Guides us in truth: “The judgments … are true and righteous altogether!”

Is better than earthly riches: “More to be desired are they than gold.”

Warns us of danger: “By them Your servant is warned.”

Points us toward blessings: “In keeping them there is great reward.”

At the end of this magnificent psalm, David prays, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer” (v. 14). Don’t let the world rob you of the incalculable riches God has for you. Fill your life with the Bible! Know it. Obey it. Let it change you!
