God’s Faithful Provision

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

George Müller’s story of transformation reminds us that God’s faithful provision is limitless when we trust Him with our needs.

“My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”—Philippians 4:19

When George Müller was young, his father, a tax collector, often trusted him with money, hoping to teach him discipline. Instead, George cleverly developed ways of using the money for himself without being detected.

As a teenager, George continued his life of deceit. He used money that had been paid in taxes for a trip he called “days of sin.” Back at school, he also found money to support bad habits.

In 1825 at age 20, a friend brought him to a meeting where he heard the Bible read and saw people praying on their knees. Overwhelmed, his life was changed, and he became serious about serving God. He moved to England and devoted himself to Bible study and prayer.

Soon after their marriage in 1830, he and his new wife became convinced God would meet their needs, and they decided to depend entirely on Him. For the rest of their lives, God was faithful to provide, often in miraculous ways.

George’s trust in God for money was remarkable in light of the years he spent as a thief. He learned the truth of Scripture: God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). To receive the fulfillment of this promise, we must trust God, look to Him to meet our needs, and live lives of faith and obedience.

Call on God to fulfill the promises in His Word. He is faithful.

Reflection Question: How can you trust God more fully to meet your needs?
