With God on Your Side

On the surface, the people of Canaan seemed to have every advantage—resources and familiarity with the land, knowing the best places to attack and defend, and the ability to study the Israelites and watch what they were doing.

In contrast, the Israelites had many disadvantages. They had been in the wilderness for 40 years. They had limited resources and no stockpile of weapons. Yet they had one major advantage: The living God was on their side!

The Canaanites saw evidence of God’s blessings when they heard how He dried the waters of the Jordan River and allowed the Israelites to cross, easily and safely. They realized that this was a miracle! If Israel’s God could do this, who could stand in their way?

The Canaanites were witnessing a people marching in step with God…who followed wherever He led them…who obeyed His Word and had confidence in Him…who were willing to step out in faith and not give in to fear or worry…who believed He could do all things and bring victory even when it seemed impossible.

God still looks for people with this same boldness—willing to step out in faith, not afraid of what others might say. The Lord seeks people willing to believe Him for victory in every situation, not intimidated by the taunts, threats, or obstacles surrounding them.

Today, be confident that with God on your side, no weapon formed against you will prosper. Commit your life to serving and following Him, wherever He leads. Be bold. Have confidence in Him.
