Focus

In his missionary journeys and writings, Paul dealt with many important issues. He established churches and interacted with people at various levels of spiritual maturity. He had many concerns, but as he told the Corinthians, his one primary goal was to preach the Gospel and focus on nothing else.

Paul used a Greek word that’s the root for the English word evangelism. This word summarizes Paul’s driving passion. Yes, he was concerned about other issues, but also was aware that any issue could be a distraction. He had to stay focused.

Each of us may face similar challenges. We can find ourselves pulled in many directions. Debating the ways we should spend our time and resources, we can become absorbed in whatever details seem important at the time.

Yet the Bible urges us to consider God’s perspective. To ponder what really matters in light of eternity. Remember that we must seek His Kingdom first, for nothing is more important than impacting souls, spreading the Gospel, and helping believers mature in their faith.

Today, think about the things that occupy your time. Have any of these things become a distraction? Do you have a clear sense of God’s call on your life and how you can impact the people He has brought into your life?

Don’t allow distractions to sidetrack you. Make sure that you have His priorities. Stay focused on the Gospel. Do your part in the body of Christ.
