Feast of Tabernacles

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

The Feast of Tabernacles invites us to rejoice in God’s faithfulness, remembering His provision and honoring Him with joyful offerings.

“The fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths … the first day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work … seven days you shall present an offering … the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering.”—Leviticus 23:34–36 NASB

The Feast of Tabernacles, which begins at sundown today, is a time of celebration. God commanded His people to hold this feast every autumn as a reminder that we owe everything to Him.

During this feast, families were to build and live in a tent, reminding them of God’s faithfulness during Israel’s journey in the wilderness. Everyone was to participate.

As they celebrated this feast, God’s people were to bring an offering to Him from their harvest. No one was to appear empty-handed (Deuteronomy 16:16), but they were to bring gifts beyond their normal tithes and offerings. As they honored God with these gifts, He promised to bless them in special ways.

Because of His faithfulness, this feast also became known as the time of our rejoicing. They rejoiced because His promises are always true. He was with them during every trial in the wilderness, and He always would be with them.

The Feast of Tabernacles was a special date on God’s calendar, and nothing has changed. He still promises blessings to those who humble themselves before Him, remember all that He’s done, and bring Him special offerings from His bountiful blessings.

Don’t let this time of Tabernacles pass you by. Remember all that God has done for you! He’s with you in every situation you face. Joyfully bring Him an offering from the resources He’s given you.

Reflection Question: How can you intentionally celebrate God’s faithfulness in this season?
